The KTM 's keep the motor oil and tranny oil in separate chambers. I run Maxima Maxum4 Ultra - full synthetic (5W40) in the motor and a synthetic blend in the tranny (at my dealers recommendation). He states the synthetic blend is better for the clutch. Maxima products are second to none. KTM recommends the same oil (sythetic) for both engine
After you do regular maintenance of oil change and valve checking. 1) Pull the stator cover and check it every 1000-1500 miles. If there is a valve train issue, it will be stuck to your pulse coil or flywheel. 2) Get cam cam chain press and extra master link. 3) Replace cam bearings at 3000 miles or so.. 308 157 142 326 329 474 427 381
