Get the system up and running and then we can see if you need to reinstall HEN. If you can't get it running try a new HDD and reinstall the firmware. Guys I assure you that you can't brick your system due to HEN but you can cause damage freaking out and pulling the power. We put the readme files in there for a reason.
Anyway, there's so many good PS3 games on the market, plus this thing plays DVDs and Blu-rays, of course. It's all I use to watch DVDs and Blu-rays. Gotta have the Bluetooth PS3 remote to enjoy fully. This is so much better than PlayStation 2. The graphics are amazing on this system. This is a must have. Ps3 slim turns on then immediately shuts off. A few months back I got a ps3 to play some old games. However 90% of the time when I go to turn it on the green light goes on it runs then after a bit I hear a click and it shuts off. I’ve tried every possible fix I can find but nothing is working. My understanding is that you can run OtherOS++ (the OtherOS hack) on the slim models but normal distros like Fedora or Debian still won't install (somebody plz correct me if I'm wrong). Either way you will need a PS3 that will accept custom firmware. If running OtherOS++ your only Linux options are T2 and Red Ribbon (again, correct me if wrong). Red light, then nothing. So about 3 years ago I picked up a cheap PS3 Super Slim 250gb model and up until now it's been working fine. I actually haven't played it in a while and was going to today, and realized nothing happens when I press the power button. Sometimes when I unplug it and plug it back in, I get the red standby light for a second
